Astina is a young Indigenous girl with the gift of communicating with her animal brothers and sisters. The story is set on the prairie east of the Rocky Mountains in a world before the Europeans landed on Turtle Island.
Author/Storyteller Grant Berg shares this children's story inspired by the character of his Indigenous Grandma with exceptional illustrations by Calgary based artist Phoebe Riel. The story book illustrations are shown on a large screen for the audience to follow along. The stories' animal characters have their Cree names, an introduction to basic Cree language.
The Healing Power of Art & Music: A Guuided Journey

50 Minutes
Gallery owner Grant Berg takes you on a journey of art and music appreciation. When Grant was a youth he went through a period of devastating health issues. While in the hospital, Grant found the healing powers of both music and art which he still utilizes to this day to persevere the challenges of life and the world around us. In what should have been the darkest days of his life, he found beauty.
Grant is a former radio announcer and now artist and gallery owner and he will teach you how to use art and music to quiet your mind and appreciate the beauty in the world. In a busy modern day, there seems to be little time to simply be and quiet the mind. Creativity is a uniquely human trait and is a form of communication artists use to touch the soul on a deep level with an Indigenous lens.
In this tour, Grant invites you to open your mind and dispel the worries of the everyday, providing tools to use everyday. Through various exercises and prompts, Grant helps unlock the beneficial effects of having music and art as part of our everyday lives.
