Thanks to the City of Grande Prairie for the Arts Development Grant of $1500 and site to display it.

Thanks to Decca Industries and Mack McDonald for helping the tree come to be and Kakwa Stone for the Rock and arranging delivery.

Wind Swept Construction

Located on the Mamawe Concourse at the Montrose Cultural Centre in Grande Prairie. The original idea was to unveil at Alberta Culture Days but with the piece done and ready for delivery, Mayor Given asked if it could be set up for the Tour of Alberta instead.

Below is an areal TV shot as the Tour of Alberta rides past.  Last year the Tour drew an international TV audience of 45 million people.

This was very much a learning experience in scale, working with partners, working with a budget, working on a delivery schedule and grant writing.

The tree leans East as prevailing West winds tip all of our trees, as you can see below.

The steel is also water cut.  A high pressure jet of water cuts through the steel giving a nice precise cut.
