Trans Canada is a sculpture inspired by the drive between Banff and Calgary on the Trans Canada highway, the rocky slopes have amazing beautiful windswept trees.

As you can tell I love this combination of a black tree and brown base, the colour combination is striking and works great into the colour pallet of my home and no doubt of many others.

This was also the first piece I have worked from a smaller maquette, Windswept Spruce was a “chip” I worked with and wanted to recreate on a larger scale.  As always the stone determines the direction ad when I looked at this stone, it just fit.

This piece is also inspired by the sculpture structure of a Lawren Harris painting, as always, you won’t find this in Lawren Harris painting, but rather my interpretation and translation of his work.
