It’s been a very eventful period since the last post.  I started my new job as General Manager of 104.7 CFRI in Grande Prairie. In my 10 weeks there we flipped the station to Grande Prairie’s  hit music radio station. A busy and intense time and very exciting.

Swan Lake by Grant Berg

I just googled the name of the Harris Painting I was referencing… Swan Lake, Algonquin Park.  For the sake of absolute irony. Here is a photograph from my deck around noon. Take a look at the lake, 3 trumpeter swans swimming by. Just above the vertical deck post.  The universe is an amazing place if you keep your eyes and mind open to it.  Rhonda says it’s a sign.

One thing that Doug Coupland wanted me to do is reference some Lawren Harris paintings for form and that is where this one comes from.  The intention is not copy, rather absorb, let it influence and then put it away so I create on my own.

On Thursday I had attended an opening at The Art Gallery of Grande Prairie. Herb Sellin and Tanya Harnett.  I had a terrific visit with Tanya for at least 3/4 of an hour. Tanya is an artist and Assistant Professor in the Department of Native American Studies Department of Art at the University of Lethbridge.

She was extremely encouraging of my sculpture and gave me list of artists to look up and one to contact. I have no doubt we will meet again and she will play a roll in my development.
