Missy Finlay is a contemporary Canadian painter, mother, and community builder whose workexplores the quiet beauty of ordinary places. Inspired by northern Alberta, she paints gravel roads, prairie skies, weathered buildings, distant tree lines, and the soft, shifting light that makes
familiar landscapes feel alive.
Her paintings are rooted in memory, belonging, and the tender stories held within the spaces between towns. Through softened light, warm tones, and moody skies, Finlay creates landscapes that feel both familiar and dreamlike—quiet reminders of home and the small moments that make life meaningful.
A graduate of the Visual Arts Diploma program at Grande Prairie Regional College, where she graduated with distinction in 2007, Finlay has continued to develop her practice through exhibitions, community art initiatives, and teaching. She leads a weekly art club for youth and adults, fostering creativity and connection through the shared experience of making art. Finlay’s paintings are held in collections throughout Alberta, including Northwestern Polytechnic in Grande Prairie and the St. Paul Municipal Library. Her work is currently represented by Canada House Gallery in Banff and Grant Berg Gallery in Grande Prairie. She continues to share her paintings through exhibitions, galleries, and community spaces throughout Alberta. At the heart of Finlay’s practice is a love for the land, the people who inhabit it, and the quiet beauty that can be found in everyday life.
