Dawn Gullackson is originally from Windsor, Ontario and she now resides in British Columbia. As well as an artist and potter she works as a medic and security guard and went to helicopter school. Dawn enjoys flying with her husband around the Muskwa-Kachika management area which is a vast wilderness all along the Alaska highway. This area is a large inspiration for her work. In 2016, Dawn did a large project where she painted 100 paintings in 100 days. She auctioned them off and gave all of the proceeds to the Fort Nelson Heritage Museum. Dawn’s pieces are also inspired by the theory of Fibonacci’s sequence and its connection to nature. She creates with the theory that nature is vast and wonderful, but it also has some repeated sequences. Dawn dabbles in many different types of media and pottery came later in her life, but now serves as her latest passion. She loves pottery for its challenge, making different shapes and forms as well as adding in new elements and playing with glazes and seeing what science experiment she can come up. She is inspired by potters such as Linda Doherty and Simon Leach. Dawn’s motto is “I am Art and Art is in me” and she lives this feeling everyday.
